Cornwall Manor Announces Jocelyn Shaffer Awarded $1,200 LeadingAge PA Professional Development Scholarship

Cornwall Manor Retirement Community is pleased to announce team member Jocelyn Shaffer has been awarded a $1,200 scholarship from LeadingAge PA for their 2021 Professional Development Scholarship Program.
Shaffer has worked as the Health Center Activities Supervisor for Cornwall Manor since July 2018 and will use her scholarship to begin in the Registered Nursing (RN) program at the Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences, Lancaster. Shaffer, currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management/Youth Leadership and Therapeutic Recreation from Brigham Young University, Utah. Working in a skilled nursing facility, Jocelyn has always enjoyed caring for residents and understands how nursing is an integral part of residents’ quality of life. Obtaining her RN degree would allow her to have more influence in the lives of older adults. Shaffer hopes to obtain a nursing position at Cornwall Manor once she completes her schooling and receives her license.
“We are very proud of Jocelyn and her accomplishments. Over the last year, we have all become more health minded and couldn’t have gotten through the pandemic without our healthcare workers. All of us at Cornwall Manor support Jocelyn in her goals as she will continue to work full-time while attending school. She is an asset to the Cornwall Manor team presently and we are looking forward to her future role as an RN,” stated Lee Stickler, Cornwall Manor’s President & CEO.
LeadingAge PA is a trade association representing more than 370 high quality senior housing, health care, and community services across the commonwealth, of which Cornwall Manor is a member. The Association is dedicated to the education and workforce enhancement efforts of member communities, and commits $100,000 annually to scholarship and internship programs. LeadingAge PA awards scholarships that enhance opportunities for member staff pursuing further education, training, and certification — both within and outside of the field of nursing.
