🎨🏠 Artful Connections: Clay Tea Light Houses with Tessa Medeiros

Creativity, community and a little bit of glow come together in Cornwall Manor's current Artful Connections classes! Residents are creating charming, hand-built clay tea light houses that shine with warmth and personality.

Under the guidance of professional ceramic artist Tessa Medeiros, participants will learn the slab-building method and explore a variety of techniques to add texture, details and decorative elements to their unique creations. Whether you're an experienced artist or trying clay for the first time, Tessa's welcoming instruction makes the class enjoyable for every skill level.

Once completed, each tea light house will be professionally glazed and fired before being returned to Cornwall Manor for pickup, ready to brighten any space.

Artful Connections is Cornwall Manor's multi-faceted arts program, offering residents opportunities to learn from professional artists across a variety of creative disciplines. Engaging in the arts is especially valuable for older adults, supporting lifelong learning, self-expression, social connection and overall well-being. Through hands-on artistic experiences, residents can continue to discover new talents, nurture creativity and find joy in the creative process.

Our Senior Games continued this week with plenty of fun, friendly competition and active living! Participants enjoyed a variety of events, including Shuffleboard, Wii Bowling, Swimming, SuDoku, Word Search, Mini Golf, Horseshoes and Football Tire Throw. Today, on National Senior Citizens Day, we celebrate the wisdom, resilience and contributions of older adults who have helped shape our communities and inspire future generations. Through their experiences, stories and lifelong dedication to family, friends, careers and service, they leave a lasting impact on the world around them.
We are grateful for the knowledge they share, the lessons they teach and the example they set each day. Thank you to all seniors for enriching our lives, strengthening our communities and reminding us of the value of connection, compassion, and lifelong learning. ❤️

Construction Update- 202 Creek Drive in The Woods.

Final punch lists and a thorough cleaning are underway this week at 202 Creek Drive as we prepare for our new residents.

We are excited to welcome them to their new beautiful home next week and to the Cornwall Manor community! We look forward to seeing them settle in and enjoy their new home and all that Cornwall Manor has to offer.

Today marked the start of two exciting weeks of Senior Games at Cornwall Manor, where residents will come together to compete, connect and have fun. More than 22 different games and activities will be contested, offering something for everyone and the best part is no experience is required!

Senior Games are about much more than competition. They celebrate active living, encourage residents to try new things and foster the camaraderie that makes our community so special. Whether participants are aiming for a medal or simply enjoying time with friends, every game is an opportunity to stay engaged, stay active, and make lasting memories.

Coming Fall 2027: Apartments at The Woods

A new apartment building is planned for our nonprofit retirement community in south central Pennsylvania. The building will feature 36 thoughtfully designed residences, including two-bedroom floor plans and two-bedroom layouts with a den.

Ranging from approximately 1,100 to 1,500 square feet, the apartments will offer spacious, accessible living with features designed to support comfort, convenience, and ease of movement. Each residence will include a private balcony or patio, providing a welcoming space to enjoy the outdoors.

Residents will also enjoy easy access to clubhouse amenities, including dining venues, fitness and wellness spaces, social and recreational activities, gathering areas, and a variety of programs designed to support an active, engaged lifestyle.

⛳🌎 Tee Up for Fun at the Clubhouse! 🌎⛳

Residents have been enjoying the golf simulator at the Clubhouse, where they can play some of the world's most famous golf courses without ever leaving the community!

But the fun doesn't stop at golf. The simulator also offers a variety of interactive games and sports, including football, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, rugby, bocce, basketball, and even zombie dodgeball. There's truly something for everyone to enjoy, whether you're perfecting your swing, challenging friends, or trying something completely new.

What does a Friday evening look like here? For many residents, it means heading to Coleman Auditorium at the Clubhouse for dancing with Christy Kam! 💃🕺

This lively class is part of Artful Connections, a multi-faceted arts program that brings residents together to explore new skills, express their creativity and enjoy lifelong learning through instruction from talented professionals.

Last night we learned the waltz, last week we learned the rumba and everyone is having a great time, lots of laughter and fun as we learn something new together. Dance instruction by Christy Kam, a nationally recognized and highly accomplished dance professional who has extensive teaching and competitive dance experience.

Dance hosts are also available to ensure everyone has the opportunity to get out on the dance floor, gain valuable experience, and receive guidance and support as they continue to build their skills and confidence.

The music, movement and laughter make for a wonderful way to start the weekend.

🍳🥞🥓The men of Cornwall Manor gathered Wednesday morning for a wonderful Men's Breakfast filled with great food, warm fellowship and engaging conversation.

Following breakfast, attendees enjoyed a fascinating presentation by Sue Hostetter of the Mt. Gretna Historical Society, who shared insights into the rich history and unique stories of the Mt. Gretna community. While the breakfast is designed for our male residents, female residents are invited to attend the program portion of the morning, making it an opportunity for even more residents to learn and connect.

Yesterday afternoon, residents enjoyed a beautiful flower arranging class featuring fresh-cut pollinator blooms harvested from our onsite Trailside Organic Farm. After selecting their favorite flowers, participants created stunning arrangements to brighten their homes and celebrate the beauty of the season.
