Cheers to Another Year – 2023!
As another year comes to a close, we are reflecting on 2023. Cornwall Manor has many successes to celebrate and much to be grateful for. Check out our highlights from our 2023-in-review!
- 47 new residents moved into independent living at Cornwall Manor during 2023.
- The Lebanon Valley Readers Choice named Cornwall Manor Best Retirement Community for the 13th consecutive year.
- Cornwall Manor finished a major renovation that began in November 2022 on Laurel Place, a Buckingham Campus apartment building featuring 68 one- and two-bedroom apartments. The makeover included three components – putting a pitched roof on the building; upgrading HVAC units and adding 8×10 balconies to most apartments. We are very proud with the outcome of this upgrade!
- Celebrated our third-year partnership with the Rodale Institute. This was the second year Trailside was operational and the growing capacity of the farm expanded to two acres, increasing the amount of produce harvested at the Farm. Read about our 2023 accomplishments, including achieving USDA organic certification, ribbon-cutting ceremony to dedicate the 3,840 square foot bank barn constructed at Trailside and our second annual Harvest Fest.
- Completed a second year multi-phase project with Prelude Services to upgrade our overall technology platforms and services. Upgrading our wireless internet (Wi-Fi) will provide all residents with improved internet and connection, calling and streaming services in common areas and resident amenity spaces. Residents residing in apartments will now have complimentary wireless internet. Our partnership with Prelude Services will offer technology support services that will benefit all residents.
- In October 2023, Cornwall Manor announced a new partnership with Friends Services Alliance (FSA) that comprises a multi-disciplinary team of experts who will partner with us in navigating the complexities of regulatory and licensure requirements to remain compliant in a rapidly evolving industry. We value our reputation for providing high-quality housing, healthcare and related services and preserving that trust and maintaining our reputation requires close observance of these standards.
- Artful Connections, features a variety of arts programming for residents and continued this year to include glass mosaics, watercolor painting, weaving, printmaking and hand-built pottery. A resident art exhibit and wine reception was held in November to showcase residents’ creations.
- We celebrated our heritage and appreciated our donors at our annual Founders Day event
- The Cornwall Manor Society, the auxiliary of Cornwall Manor, gave $90,000 to Cornwall Manor for benevolent care and purchased several wish list items for personal
care and the health center throughout the year, including mobile whiteboards, a desk for the Health Center greeters, a sleeper chair, an auto glider rocking chair and TVs. Since their inception in 1950, the Society has given more than $3 million to Cornwall Manor! - Commended our team members! Did you know 45% of our staff have been employed at Cornwall Manor for 10 years or more? We are extremely grateful for the dedication and compassion our team members provide our residents and community.
- In August, we recognized staff for continuing their education at the annual Weik Scholarship Reception and congratulated Alexis Lehr for receiving the LeadingAge PA 2023 Professional Development Scholarship.
- In October, we celebrated Employee Recognition Week with a variety of activities, gift card drawings, food and recognized employees’ years of service.
Phew! That’s a lot! However, as we reflect on a busy year filled with many accomplishments – we are most grateful for those our residents, staff, volunteers, donors, family members and friends and Trustees – because without all of you, none of these highlights would be possible.
From all of us at Cornwall Manor, we wish you and your loved ones a very peaceful New Year and we look forward to 2024!
