2024: A Year of Milestones and Memories
2024: A Year of Milestones and Memories
As another year comes to a close, we are reflecting on the many successes Cornwall Manor has achieved throughout 2024. This year has been marked by significant milestones and remarkable achievements that have strengthened our community! Cornwall Manor has many successes to celebrate and much to be grateful for.
- 38 new residents moved into independent living at Cornwall Manor during 2024 and we have achieved 95% occupancy in independent living, which is a clear indication of the trust and confidence that people have in our community.
- The Lebanon Valley Readers Choice named Cornwall Manor Best Retirement Community for the 14th consecutive year.
- Celebrated our 75th Anniversary. Achieving such a milestone truly reflects the dedication and foresight of the visionaries and founders who came before us. It is inspiring to see how their vision continues to shape our present and future.
- Cornwall Manor continues to see growth and progress through various construction and renovation projects. We broke ground in June for a 24,000 square foot Clubhouse at The Woods, began renovating the exteriors of the Gatehouse Lane duplex homes on the Buckingham Campus this fall and Buckingham Mansion renovations have been taking place throughout the year.
- Our Endowment Fund has seen significant growth over the years and for the first time in Cornwall Manor history has surpassed $40 million. This ensures that we can continue to fulfill our mission and support residents with limited or depleted financial resources, ensuring peace of mind for residents.
- Celebrated our fourth-year partnership with the Rodale Institute. This was the third year Trailside was operational. Now that the farm has a couple of experienced growing seasons, Trailside propagated a variety of crops for the annual Cornwall Manor Society’s Blooms & More Festival. As our partnership with Rodale and the farm continues to grow, so did several key engagement and outreach opportunities. Cornwall Manor presented “Ready. Set. Grow: Partnering to Promote Healthy Longevity through Organic Farming in a Senior Living Community” at the LeadingAge PA convention in May and the LeadingAge national conference in November.
- The farm not only has an impact on Cornwall Manor, but also the surrounding Lebanon community. Trailside Organic Farm made several donations to the Chestnut Street Community Center and Greektown Pizza’s Thanksgiving Food Drive.
- Lastly, the bank barn, which opened in October 2023, added a touch of personalization to the exterior as a special 7th Anniversary project and the entire initiative was imagined, created and implemented by our residents.
- Artful Connections, features a variety of arts programming for residents and continued for a third season and included small glass mosaics, collage, storytelling, drawing, drumming circle, large/community glass mosaic, hand-built pottery, woodworking, metal embossing, square dancing and watercolor painting. Artful Connections also partnered with Encore Creativity (and we are the first retirement community to form a partnership), which are adult ensembles for non-auditioned chorales for individuals 55+. Our resident singers performed a beautiful concert on December 13 at Cornwall Manor.
- We celebrated our heritage and appreciated our donors at our annual Founders Day event
- The Cornwall Manor Society, the auxiliary of Cornwall Manor, had an exciting and fulfilling year. gave $100,000 to Cornwall Manor for benevolent care. Since their inception in 1950, the Society has given more than $3 million to Cornwall Manor!
- Commended our team members! Did you know 45% of our staff have been employed at Cornwall Manor for 10 years or more? We are extremely grateful for the dedication and compassion our team members provide our residents and community as they are the backbone of our organization.
Phew! That’s a lot! However, as we reflect on a busy year filled with many accomplishments – we are most grateful for those our residents, staff, volunteers, donors, family members and friends and Trustees – because without all of you, none of these highlights would be possible.
From all of us at Cornwall Manor, we wish you and your loved ones a very peaceful New Year and we look forward to 2025!
