Staff Spotlight: Betsy Wolfe – Celebrating Food Service Worker Appreciation at Cornwall Manor

September 2025

This October, Betsy Wolfe will celebrate a remarkable milestone—10 years of dedicated service in the Health Center Food Service Department at Cornwall Manor. Over the past decade, Betsy has become a familiar and friendly face to residents and staff alike, known for her warm heart, strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to making each day better for those around her.

Betsy’s role is multifaceted and essential to the daily life of the Health Center. She works a variety of shifts, including 6:15 AM–2:15 PM, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, and 11:45 AM, each with its own unique responsibilities. From preparing and serving breakfast and lunch, to assembling supplements and snacks, to crafting sandwiches and desserts for the next day, Betsy ensures that every meal is not only nourishing but also thoughtfully prepared with each resident’s needs in mind.

The Health Center serves residents with a wide range of dietary requirements, including pureed, mechanical soft, low sodium and regular diets. Each resident has a personalized diet slip that outlines their specific needs and preferences. Betsy takes pride in honoring these details, often going the extra mile to accommodate special requests. “Every resident is different,” she says, “and it’s important to make sure they feel seen and cared for.”

Most days, Betsy can be found working on Hillside 3, one of the four households in the Health Center. Each household features its own homelike dining area, where residents can enjoy meals together or choose to dine in their rooms. When training new staff members, Betsy rotates through all four households and the central kitchen, sharing her knowledge and experience. Her advice to new team members is simple but powerful:

“Treat the residents like they are your grandparents. We are a family at Cornwall Manor. Always ask questions.”

That sense of family and connection is what fuels Betsy’s passion for her work. She speaks fondly of the friendships she’s formed with residents and coworkers over the years. “I love the residents,” she says. “You get to know them, and they become part of your life. I hope I’m making a difference in theirs.”

Like many in healthcare and senior living, Betsy faced significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. But through it all, she remained grateful for the supportive team around her. “It was hard,” she reflects, “but we got through it together. That’s what makes this place special.”

Outside of work, Betsy enjoys a full and joyful life. She lives in South Lebanon Township with her husband and is a proud Lebanon County native. She’s a devoted grandmother to four grandchildren, who love spending time at her house for sleepovers, board games, and cooking sessions. “They’ve learned to make what they like,” she says with a smile. “It’s fun watching them grow and learn.”

In her downtime, Betsy enjoys word search puzzles and word games on her phone, and she loves escaping to the beach in Wildwood or the peaceful Poconos whenever she can.

As we celebrate Food Service Worker Appreciation, we honor Betsy Wolfe not just for her years of service, but for the kindness, dedication, and heart she brings to Cornwall Manor every single day. Thank you, Betsy, for all that you do—you truly make a difference.
