Building Strength and Wellness: Staff Spotlight on Melissa Rodriguez’s New Role and Achievements

Melissa’s journey began at Selinsgrove High School, followed by earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Millersville University. She joined Cornwall Manor in June 2022 as part of the Health Center Activities Department and transitioned to her current role in January 2024. Since then, Melissa has played a key role in shaping and expanding our fitness and recreation programs.
Her commitment to professional growth is inspiring. In June 2024, Melissa earned her Activity Director Certification from the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP), and by July 2023, she became a Certified Dementia Practitioner. Most recently, Melissa completed rigorous training through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and Precision Nutrition, achieving certifications as a Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach—each requiring months of study and dedication.
Melissa oversees the pool and fitness center classes, massage therapy and will soon expand offerings with duplicate classes at the Clubhouse. She has introduced exciting programs like water volleyball tournaments, aqua aerobics, and specialized classes for weights, cardio/resistance, and balance training. Residents love her themed events, including the popular luau party and the upcoming Super Bowl Pool Party in February 2026.
Her passion lies in helping residents reach their goals—whether it’s increasing hand weights from one to three pounds or building confidence in the water. With her new certifications, Melissa plans to offer nutrition and fitness presentations, small group lessons, and even personalized in-home sessions designed to help residents live well everyday.
Outside of work, Melissa lives in Mount Gretna with her husband, Eric; daughter, Emma; and their Goldendoodle, Flynn. They enjoy summers at Mt. Gretna Lake, family trips to Ocean City, NJ, and cheering Emma on in year-round sports. Melissa also loves reading historical fiction and mystery novels, baking with Emma, birdwatching, and caring for her growing collection of plants.
Melissa is an active member of Cornwall Manor’s Life Engagement Committee and Employee Wellness Committee. Her goal is simple yet powerful: to build relationships and help residents become the best version of themselves through fitness and healthy living.
Congratulations, Melissa, on your incredible achievements! We’re excited to see the positive impact your expertise will bring to our community.
